Why do you need special newborn diapers? What makes newborns so unique?
Because they're so little when they're born, they have to fatten up in order to fit in most regular sized or One-Sized diapers. Initially they need a diaper that fits around the thighs and belly really well to prevent leaking and adequate absorption.
This is why we recommend newborn-sized diapers for the first few months. Once your baby fattens up a bit, you can move on to a One-Size or regular diaper. Usually this is about 3-4 months.
Prefolds and fitteds are our favorite choices for newborns. Contours also work great. Alternative options are sized (XSmall or Small) Pockets or All-In-Ones.
